INSPIRATION AND REMEMBERANCE

Rev. Peter R. Martyn was a husband, father, friend, and ELCA pastor. Energetic and always full of ideas, he dedicated his life to sharing God's word and uplifting those around him. It was easy to see Peter's passion for sharing God's message through his preaching, as he thoughtfully told and re-told stories to illustrate how God shows up through word and deed in our lives.

In his ministry, Peter served as pastor at Redeemer Lutheran (Milwaukee, WI), Lutheran Church of the Master (Troy, MI), Hope Lutheran Church (Toledo, OH), chaplain at Sunset Retirement Communities (Toledo, OH). He served as an interim pastor at Glenwood Lutheran Church (Toledo, OH), St. Paul Lutheran (Haskins, OH), and the former First English Lutheran (Toledo, OH). He received his Master of Divinity degree from Lutheran School of Theology of Chicago in 1971 and was ordained into the Lutheran Church in America (now ELCA) that same year. In 1999, Pastor Martyn earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from Ashland Theological Seminary (Ashland, OH), specializing in Grief Ministry.

On September 3rd, 2016, Peter died from complications of brain cancer. This site is dedicated to his memory. May his life's work and spirit continue to guide and inspire.
